What has everyone been up to? This blog is so quiet.....
Not much with us. We closed on the land next door on the 15th so have an additional 32 acres. The buildings that were there are down along with the house, and burned (for the most part). Still a lot of garbage clean up with many trips to the dump, scrap iron to haul in and that's only the stuff above the snow - Can't wait to see the surprises in the spring :( She put all of her garbage in a trailer, then when they left, dumped the trailer so it's all left for us. I've been searching through garbage and learned her diet: beer, hard liquor, soda, and spam - any one hungry?
We continue with our lovely animals and picking chicken eggs. We have someone who will sell the eggs so we are trying to get more chickens. Not sure how this is a money making proposition, but at least pays for the food that they eat :) and they are just fun to have.
It has been a bit chilly here. The last couple days schools were closed, businesses closed - with the exception of my place of employment. Sunday and Monday was really warn with rain on Monday. Then we went from 39 to -25 with wind chills of -50. Needless to say, the rain helped to create an ice rink in everyone's yards and we walk around with pillows strapped to our backsides to help with the reoccuring need to sit down unexpectedly. This morning, it was much warmer (-12) with a lot less wind.
Would love to hear what the rest of you have been up to.

Christmas at our house.
New Year's Day
For Eveleth Horizons (I'm the coordinator), people said they wanted a sliding hill in Eveleth. The city made one and we had the grand opening of it yesterday. They made signs to lead the way....
I didn't go down the hill as I was there as photographer, but can't wait to get a sled and go down it. We had people of all ages riding the hill with sleds of all shapes and sizes and even snowboards. It's quite the hike up, but everyone claims it is worth it....

More land....
Shawn and I signed a purchase agreement to buy "Julie's" land next door. So, we will have an additional 32 acres attached to ours. She has 30 days to remove her belongings and then we will be closing on the house on or around January 15th. I'm very excited. We will have more pasture land and need to get more goats - Shawn says cattle - or sheep. We may end up putting a new sewer in and building a house of some sort to rent out - We will see. The possibilities will be endless - once we really do own it. The current owner said that she already considers it ours but we have to wait for Julie to move her stuff out.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

Hi,
Mauri and I had a great time in Arizona with Paul, Kendra and family. The light show was alot of fun for everyone. The kids are so much fun, even though they like Aunt Mauri better than thier Uncle Dan. Oh well. We also visited with Mauri's parents and her Grandmother, who live there year-round. It was cold most days, and rainy, but better than the weather we left. Happy Holidays to all and to all a good night.

Finally feeling like Christmas!
We have finally began slowly putting up decorations. Our house has been a mess the last few weeks, from putting up our bedroom wall again. So now that the living room was finished getting painted I put up our few decorations. Emalee picked out that Santa from Frys and the snowman drew picked out from target. Caitlyn will not leave the little bells on the tree and it is a fight to keep them from the other kids as well!

What is everyone doing for Christmas? You are all welcome to come here, it would be a Xmas to remember as the saying goes. Plan on it in fact for Xmas 2008, we'll go on a hayride in the desert before a scrumptious meal of javelina, turducken, and ham with potatoes. P.L P.S. everything well done of course.

My moose
The other Saturday, Shawn came running in the house and said there was a moose. Here is our moose which was named: "Honk, the moose". The fence posts are the end of our land and she was coming out toward Julie's house. Anyway, she turned around and went back in the woods. We had some kids up hunting and one of them said that he saw the moose in our woods. I'm hoping she stays around, but will most likely move on....

October Camping
This is our camping trip, sort of cold, about 55 for a high. This is on the Mogollon Rim, in Bear Canyon area, the back side is primitive camping. We took a stick thru the trailer tire on the way in, but this is to be expected when four wheeling . Saw some mule deer and assorted small wildlife which Tinker scared off. Our next camping trip will hopefully be to Karchner Caverns outside of Tucson AZ, this winter. Our combined rig is 43 feet long, but flexible, so I can get it most anywhere. Oh yeah, showering feels great when camping, .....rootbeer floats are nice to!!!!!! P.L.
